Pinterest files confidentially to go public

The visual search engine has confidentially submitted paperwork to the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering slated for later this year, the WSJ reports.

Pinterest Inc. has filed for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission. The visual social media web and mobile application company operates a software system designed to discover information on the World Wide Web, mainly using images, GIFs and videos. The expected valuation for the Company is at least $12 billion. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. will lead the IPO.
