Uber Technologies Inc. is facing a class action lawsuit in Australia as more than 6,000 taxi and hire car drivers and license owners have accused the Company of destroying their livelihoods. The suit was filed at the Victoria Supreme Court by personal injury and compensation law firm, Maurice Blackburn. The lawsuit alleges that Uber started operating illegally in the four states (Victoria, Western Australian, New South Wales, and Queensland) in 2014, by offering its UberX service which used vehicles and drivers without the proper licenses, accreditations, and authorizations.
