Following a remarkable rebound in new orders for U.S. durable goods in March (+1.7%), the Commerce Department reported on Friday that durable goods orders dropped more than expected by 2.1% in April. Economists had estimated orders to fall by 2.0%, compared to a 2.6% spike that had been reported for March. Excluding a drop in transportation equipment orders, durable goods orders were flat in April, following a revised 0.5% drop in March.
