The Commerce Department reported a huge jump in new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods in March, reflecting a significant rebound in orders for transportation equipment (+7.0%). Durable goods orders surged 2.7% (vs. economists expectation: +0.8%) in March after plummeting by a revised 1.1% in February. Orders for non-defense aircraft and parts soared 31.2% in March compared to 25.4% slump in February. Excluding transportation equipment order growth, durable goods orders were up by 0.4%.
