The second largest U.S. automaker Ford plans to stop selling heavy trucks in South America, a region where the auto giant has long struggled. The Company will stop production at its Sao Bernardo do Campo plant in Brazil and discontinue the Cargo lineup, F-4000 and F-350 trucks and Fiesta compact car. The move is a step towards making its operations in the region profitable again. As a result, Ford expects to record pretax special item charges of ~$460 million.
