Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. plans to spend $4.5 billion to expand factory production in Michigan, including a new Jeep assembly plant in Detroit. The move would strengthen the company’s position to meet growing demand for its Jeep and Ram brands. Construction of this new Detroit facility would start by the end of Q2 2019, with the first 3-row vehicles expected to start production by the end of 2020, followed by the all-new Grand Cherokee in 1H21. Fiat expects that the project would create around 6,500 new jobs.
