Vodafone Group is suspending the purchase of components made by Huawei Technologies for its core telecom networks. This decision was made amid worries that the company’s telecom equipment poses security concerns and ambiguity over potential ban from some governments such as Europe. Vodafone will only discontinue Huawei’s products for the European market, but continue the purchases for smaller markets such as Spain. Several countries including the U.S., Japan, Australia and New Zealand, have already banned Huawei from supplying equipment for their domestic telecom networks.
