The sales of recreational cannabis has officially begun in the state of Massachusetts. This makes Massachusetts the first state east of Mississippi to sell marijuana legally. Two dispensaries, Cultivate Holdings in Leicester and New England Treatment Access in Northampton, opened their doors on Tuesday. The people of Massachusetts voted for the legalization of cannabis use, both in distribution and cultivation, way back in a 2016 referendum. Following intensive background checks, inspections, product testing for public health and safety, licensees are finally able to operate.
