In order to aid manufacturing businesses affected by competition in the global market, MU Extension has received US$1.1 million in federal grants. The grant is aimed at catering to wide variety of operational improvement projects, like engineering training, market research etc. The center also helps businesses develop products, build websites and train employees. Those U.S. manufacturers who have been in business for at least two years and have experienced a 5% decline in both employment and sales are eligible for this grant. Additionally, the companies need to match the grant amounts they receive. The MU Extension grant was part of a total of US$13 million sent to 11 trade adjustment centers across the country.
