Alphabet’s self-driving car Waymo One was officially launched in Phoenix, Arizona. Waymo originated as a project of Google before it became a standalone subsidiary in December 2016. Keeping passenger safety and comfort top of mind, Waymo-trained drivers will be present to supervise the Waymo One vehicles during its introduction phase. Waymo will enable riders to call the self-driving vehicles 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through its Smartphone app. They can ride across several cities in the Metro Phoenix area, including Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, and Gilbert.
