Worldwide shipment volumes of smartphones declined 6.6% year over year in the first quarter of 2019 per International Data Corporation (IDC). Out of the top player such as Samsung and Apple, only Huawei grew both in terms of volume and market share in the quarter to rise to the second position, while Apple and Samsung reported slowing smartphone sales.
